F1 is a strange film because it glorifies rejecting money and fame in favor of the pure love of racing, yet it is also one of the most money-driven, ad-filled movies I’ve seen in a long time. This contradiction highlights a bigger issue: art is increasingly infiltrated by the need to generate sales. Unique stories are avoided because they are risky, and when financial return is the priority, risk-taking suffers. As a result, art and passion become luxuries only accessible to the wealthy—those who don’t need to recoup their investment of time and effort.
